What are the benefits of establishing an LLC?

On Behalf of Cooper & Cooper Law Offices, PLLC | May 22, 2025 | Business law |

People who are starting a business have to determine what structure they’re going to use. There are several to choose from, so it’s critical to carefully consider each option that’s available. While some choose to start the company as a sole proprietorship, there might be a better option available.

One option for starting a company is a limited liability company (LLC). This business structure provides a clear dividing line between the company and the owner’s assets. The dividing line protects the owner from claims made against the business.

Protection that comes with flexibility

Another benefit of an LLC is that these businesses have greater flexibility than what’s possible with a corporate structure. This allows the owner of the LLC to exercise full control over how the business is run without having to be concerned about others stepping in to exert dominance over their decisions.

Taxation can be customized

Many people who own an LLC take advantage of the pass-through taxation that comes with this structure. This means they file the business’s taxes on their own personal tax return. Those who aren’t comfortable with that option can choose to use a corporate tax option instead.

Anyone who’s starting a new business should carefully consider each decision they have to make. This can help to provide for themself and the business in the ways they feel are best for both. It may be beneficial to work with someone who’s familiar with these matters so they can receive the information they need to make the choices that are most beneficial.
